American University Hosts 2017 Luxembourg Forum Keynote Conversation with U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Stephen Breyer and Court of Justice of the European Union President Koen Lenaerts
On Friday, April 21, American University Washington College of Law hosted the Academic Conference of the 2017 Luxembourg Forum, which took place in Washington April 18-21. The Luxembourg Forum is a legal exchange between the U.S. Supreme Court and the Court of Justice of the European Union that provides high-level transatlantic judicial consultations and discussion. The Keynote Conversation, "Judges as Diplomats in Advancing the Rule of Law," featured Stephen Breyer, Associate Justice, U.S. Supreme Court, and Koen Lenaerts, President, Court of Justice of the European Union.
William H. Karchmer End of Year Celebration Recognizes Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project Fellows
The Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project held its William H. Karchmer End of Year Celebration on April 19. Rep. Jamie Raskin, co-founder of the Project, congratulated the Fellows on educating and enriching the lives of the high school students they have been working with over the past year.
AUWCL Sponsors 19th Annual Grotius Lecture to Open ASIL Annual Meeting
On April 12, the law school sponsored the 19th Annual Grotius Lecture opening the American Society of International Law's 111th Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. The year's Grotius Lecturer was David Armitage, Lloyd C. Blankfein Professor of History at Harvard University. Mary Dudziak, Asa Griggs Candler Professor of Law at Emory University School of Law as the Distinguished Discussant.

Professor Liz Boals Receives American University's "Outstanding Teaching in a Full-time Term Appointment" Award
The law school congratulates Professor Liz Boals, associate director of the Stephen S. Weinstein Trial Advocacy Program, who has been named the 2017 American University Faculty Award Recipient for "Outstanding Teaching in a Full-time Term Appointment." In addition to teaching a variety of trial advocacy courses, Professor Boals has coached award-winning mock trial national competition teams.
