The Department of Justice Civil Rights Division and AUWCL recognized the 50th Anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by holding a discussion, “Building a Strong Foundation: The Civil Rights Division’s Role in the Past, Present, and Future of Civil Rights Enforcement.” The event was held at the law school, and featured remarks by high-profile civil-rights lawyers. Legal Spanish Returns this Fall

The Legal Spanish Program returns to AUWCL this fall, ideal for lawyers, paralegals, and legal professionals who conduct business in Spanish but have difficulty using complex legal terms in their legal work. Through lectures, written assignments, and exercises, participants will practice a wide array of legal Spanish skills ranging from legal reading and writing strategies to oral presentation of substantive legal issues. VIDEO: Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project

For nearly 15 years the Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project has created a powerful connection between AUWCL and the community – providing law students with unforgettable teaching experiences outside of the lecture hall while equipping area high school students with knowledge of the Constitution and Bill of Rights. During the 2013-14 school year, the Marshall-Brennan Project at AUWCL sent more than 40 law students to teach in 13 high schools in Washington, D.C. and Prince George's County, Maryland. A Unique Online Certificate Program

This fall, American University Washington College of Law will offer new graduates and mid-career professionals a unique opportunity to pursue an Online Certificate in International Commercial Arbitration. This online program is an extension of the Center on International Commercial Arbitration at AUWCL and is designed to prepare participants with the foundational knowledge and skills to succeed in the complex and ever-changing field of international arbitration.
